The company was founded in 1991 by Doug Ringham, originally trading under his name. It was renamed Ringham Surveyors Ltd in 2001. Doug was also a lecturer at Unitec’s School of Surveying and the company enjoyed a wide network of contacts from this association.
In August 2005, the company was bought by the current directors, Philip & Catherine Gillies. The company continued to trade as Ringham Surveyors Ltd until December 2006 when the name was changed to Boundary Consultants Ltd.
Since 2005, the company has progressively upgraded the survey and office equipment to be more efficient and versatile in the way projects are handled. We have upgraded the total station (survey field instrument) to the latest Sokkia reflectorless instrument (Set 3030 R3). There has been a progressive update in computers and software so that all machines are operating with Windows XP and run time cost, project management and the latest survey calculation software. In addition the vehicle used for field work has been upgraded to a commercial, long base Mitsubishi van. The ongoing equipment upgrade will include future budgeting for inhouse GPS equipment which is currently hired when required.
In April 2008 Boundary Consultants Ltd bought Smirk Easton Ltd formerly M G Easton & Partners. Over time the company has grown in size from 3 full-time and 1 part-time staff to now 6 full-time staff and 3 part-time staff. The full-time staff consists of one Director, three Surveyors, one Project Manager and Administration personnel, the part-time staff are one Resource Consent Coordinator, one Planner and one Field Assistant.
